Who and what have been great influencers in your life?
Generally speaking, the great influencers in my life have been higher thoughts, lofty ideals, clear spaces, alone time, straightforwardness, honesty, loving people, and alignment of body, mind, and soul. These are also the things that hold attraction for me today and which I try to emulate in my life. It is amazing how we tend to become that which we admire.
What and who do you admire? How has it influenced you?

Once I heard a monk say that there are 2 ways to wake up in the morning, one way is to say “Good morning God!”, the other saying “Good God, it’s morning! ” — I laughed, too.
How one greets the day sets the tone for what follows.
Have you paid attention to how you greet the day? If you were to create an affirmation for your day, what would it be? Use it for a week and watch it influence things. This is one place I invite you to stretch. Be lofty in your affirmation. Let it lead you into your day, into your life.

From time to time we face judgment and negative opinion from others. Many of us tend to react in some way as opposed to simply continuing to be who we are and allowing people their opinion. After all, everyone is entitled to their opinion, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is true.
Some people thrive on being liked and approved of and it sometimes causes them to do things in their lives they would not do otherwise. Have you ever asked yourself what is the other side of reacting? What if you were to be the real you and not a reaction? What would this look like? What would you be saying and doing?
When I was reacting to a situation once, someone close to me said: “sit loose on the saddle of life”. This statement was unusual and caught me so off guard that I just started laughing and the laughter stopped my reaction.
How do you keep from reacting or getting yourselves out of that mode?

“The mystery is this. There is one right thing to do at every moment. We can either follow or resist”, by Robert Johnson from his book Balancing Heaven and Earth.
Reading this gave me pause. This statement holds immense truth. There is a ”right” thing to do at every moment. The right thing is that which aligns with our being, with our core, with our deepest truth. The small voice inside each of us knows the way. The “right” thing aligns with this voice.
Let’s keep uncovering our true voice…what is the “right” thing to do at this moment, in this interaction, in this choice.

Right brain left brain balance is one aspect of who I am, the soulful human and the business person. When this equilibrium is attended to my life flows with ease. If I go off too much to one side something feels amiss.
The last two week I have been fully engaged in left brain activity, my real estate work. Right brain activity, blog writing and sharing from my soul has taken a back seat outwardly. My most steady commentator reminded me of the commitment I made to readers of this blog and of the sheer discipline of writing. Thank you! I stand reminded of the importance of my own balance!
Each of us has our own version of balance. How is yours holding up?

Yesterday my husband asked if I write a blog entry every day. He loosely follows by activities, is very supportive and wants only my happiness. I told him I thought I was going to blog daily but I am settling into a rhythm where I blog only when I am inspired to say something. I don’t force it. He said, “thank God you are not into perfection, it is hard to live with a perfectionist”. It made me think of the many human beings who “have to do it because that is how they said they would do it, it is how it has been done for ages and it is how it should be done”. Sound like someone you know?
Habits can be our friends or they can work against us. Identify a habit that supports your life and work and one that does the opposite. Have you been thinking of making changes?

In my work I hear much about what a challenge it is to be authentic at work and with people around us. Being oursleves is not the issue. It is to know who we really are. Once we feel we have tapped into that which is authentic in us and are comfortable with that knowing, revealing it to world no longer feels threatening, we don’t mind the opinion of others, we are comfortable and grounded in our own knowing.
Much of my work with people is helping them uncover who they already are but can’t see due to outdated habits of thought and action which no longer serve their larger, brilliant and all powerful self. Most of us have gotten used to living only in one or two rooms of this incredible mansion. To be authentic, aligned, alive, we must get acquainted with the whole mansion leading us to uncover our full potentiality.
I invite you to get acquainted with another room in your mansion today. One way to go about this is to ask yourself what has caught your attention lately, a movie, something said in a conversation, a scene you witnessed? Then ask yourself what in you connected to this? Keep asking yourself questions. Do so with an open mind, an open heart, willingness to listen to your own knowing. Its a fun self-exploration.

Extraordinary lives are an inside job, they grow from within. We know what extraordinary is for each of us. And, by the way, we don’t get to an extraordinary life through another person’s action – “if only he did such and such my life would be great…, if only she did…, the boss did…, etc”. I invite you to ask yourself what it means to live an extraordinary life inside you own skin, then do one thing today that reflects this knowing.
