No matter what you do for work or in life, get organized !
I used to find myself shuffling papers just to find a phone number. It was usually burried under a pile of other important information, or written on one of 89 post-it notes I had everywhere. One day I said NO MORE. It took me a while to figure out what equipment/software/program was best given my needs, my type of work and my style of processing information. I won’t tell you how much I spent on extraneous software programs I barely used in my quest for organization and streamlining. I jumped for joy when I finally had all my contacts in one place, when I could sink my phone with my lap top, when I could receive e-mails without having to be in front of my computer, when I could put my fingers instantly on the information I needed.
No matter if you are a housewife, an athlete, a pilot, a custom sweater knitter, or live on a farm, being organized gives peace of mind, frees up time, makes you more productive and in control of your life. An unclutered and organized physical space contributes greatly to clarity of mind.
What is your space like?

Feeling done, complete, time to move on?
After 21 years I knew I was done with my corporate life. The next step was in front of me waiving a flag. We all have an internal compass that helps us discern our direction. At that time for me it was to balance my driven corporate lifestyle with activities and work that brought out my creative feminine side. Today I do consulting and real estate. This balance works for me.
Even if you are not contemplating a change, listening to your internal compass provides you with good information.
Where is your inner compass pointing? Are you paying attention?

Writing in this blog is like giving myself counsel. Once I have something down on paper and re-read it, I realize there is yet something deeper to say, that I have not gone the distance. So I make changes, or, I erase and start over, depending on how conscious or unconscious I was when I wrote the entry.
This process reminds me that consciousness, our own inner voice, is our best teacher. Have you ever tried to write your mission statement? Try it, you will then understand what I am talking about. Mission statements that reflect our truth help us sort through our thoughts and give direction to our energy.
My mission statement follows — (Disclaimer: I reserve the right to change this at any time:) – “I will bring all the know-how I have accumulated, work-wise, psychologically and spiritually, to assist those who come into my space however I am called to do so, work or personal. I will bring presence, love, unconditional acceptance and regard, and deep respect for the wisdom of each person’s soul knowledge”.
What is your mission statement?

I had a belly laugh today, heard a joke that somehow caught my funny bone and I could not stop laughing. When I recovered, it suddenly hit me that I had not laughed like that in a long time. I felt good, lighter, carefree, happy.
When was the last time you had a good belly laugh? Try it, it feels good!

My daughter Edit, a member of the “30 something” crowd, told me that my blog entries do not catch her attention. She needed something more personal, more connected to her world. I reflected on this.
Well, she is a perfect example of what I talk about and aim to highlight in the blog.
Edit is a successful entrepreneur having opened, operated and sold 3 restaurants for a very nice profit. She recently opened her 4th restaurant and has hit the marketing trail running being featured on two Houston TV stations just this last week. Edit is passionate, committed and hardworking, she speaks her mind and people respect her, she pulls no punches, is honest to a fault and will do what is necessary to succeed. Edit has huge integrity and smarts, knows how to manage people and make the hard decisions when needed and she does this with utmost consideration for others.
Edit is aligned indeed. Nothing in her wants to go in a different direction than the path she is walking. All her energy is fully and passionately engaged in her work and her life, she even manages to fit exercise into her days. And, on top of this, Edit is an awesome audience and critic for me.
Do you have someone in your life whom you trust will tell you like it is without you taking offense? Those people are gems, take care of them.

I was having lunch with a friend of mine who shared a story of a high jump female Olympic athlete. I was so concentrated on the story that I forgot the name of the athlete, sorry.
When she went to her first training her new coach asked what was the highest she had ever jumped. She told him. The coach proceeded to place the bar 1 ft higher than her previous highest jump. He told her that what she needed to do was to start running from further behind. You see, the height of the jump is directly proportional to the speed with which the athlete runs—the faster the speed, the higher the jump. The coach told her how much further back she should start running. This extra distance gave her the ability to achieve greater speed. A shift in strategy. To her amazement after some tries, she accomplished this higher jump. Clearing that one extra foot was previously unimaginable to her.
What are your self-imposed limitations? What do you tell yourself you can’t do?

When people ask me what I do, I say I am a work-therapist, or sometimes I say I am a work-yoga facilitator. Yoga means union and applied to my business it means help unite the inner and outer motivation, bringing thoughts, words, action and passion into alignment so that all are pointing in the same direction stacking the odds for success. Got you confused yet?
Take the multi-level marketing industry. The importance of being aligned coupled with passion is never more apparent than here. To be engaged in it successfully you have to like doing business through the networking model, it has to make sense financially and you have to believe in your product. Otherwise your success is limited and/or you find yourself drifting away from the business. Pretty soon you are in it simply to get a discount for your personal use of the product.
It is easy to say, it all sounds simple. It is not, I know. We are complex human beings constantly evolving. Yet, a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. What is that step for you?

I was talking to a personal trainer. His clientele has dwindled due to the economy. He decided to take stock of his transferable skills: being personable, having good physique, hard working, good networker, takes direction well, not afraid of risk, willing to broaden his choices. He had a photographic portfolio taken of himself so he could apply to modeling agencies. Got 3 calls, landed 2 jobs. Now that’s what I call thinking on your feet — and he continues to give awesome workouts.
What are your transferable skills?

Stuck in old, tired ways and patterns? Reinvent yourself!
Read inspiring books. Distill what connects with your essence and what you want in your life. Broaden your choices. Talk to someone who has done it. Sort through thoughts that come. Write them down. Prioritize. The ones with the most energy go at the top of the list.
Be fearless. What fits? What aligns best with who you are? Experiment. Discard what doesn’t work. Install what does.
Expand on this exercise, feel and see the transformation in yourself. Notice the change energetically and in the world of action. Trust. Start . There are no right or wrong ways, shoulds, musts, how to manuals, timelines, reports. There is just life to be lived to the fullest!

Have you seen the documentary of a paralyzed woman who communicates by moving the cursor of a computer with her thoughts?
I was absentmindedly walking on the treadmill this morning thinking about this woman along with the implications of such an amazing feat and decided to do a test. What if I could raise my heart rate by thinking it. My heart rate went up to the desired level. Wow. This is astounding, for work, for life, for the planet. Think about it. The possibilities are endless. The adage of “your thoughts create your life” takes on a whole new meaning. Experiment.
